Pirate Park

A few months ago on an unusually warm day, we went on an adventure to find a new park. Megan had a lot of fun so I've planned to go back when it was closer to summer when they would have their water feature up and running. It's basically just a sandy pool which was actually quite mucky today but what do the kids care? I also love it because it's not completely covered in the bark chips and they use the rubber stuff instead. Anyway, Megan had a great time and it was a really great day for both of us. She buried my feet in the sand, went on the swings A LOT, down the slide and ran and ran and ran.
Here she is trying to wash her feet but mostly just play in the water.

Lesly wants to meet Vanna White

As most of you know, our niece has been battling Neuroblastoma cancer since she was five. She just turned nine. Her prognosis is not good and recently got worse. Her body has now become transfusion dependent and must have transfusions every 5 days. More tumors are growing and becoming larger. Her parents are trying to see to it that all of her wishes and dreams are fulfilled. Right now she is in Hawaii because it is something she's always wanted to do. She's been to Disneyland through Make-a-Wish, she was a veterinarian for the day recently at our local vet's office because that is what she wants to be when she grows up. Another thing she has mentioned is meeting Vanna White. So I thought, maybe through Facebook someone would know someone that could make it happen. Please pass on this note to anyone that you think might be able to help. We appreciate it so much.

Love,
Kristie

Croquet Megan Style

We went to Grandma and Papa's house for a BBQ when we got back from the beach. After dinner, Megan took a bath to remove all of the sand, got her jammies on and went on a walk with Grandma and Papa. Josh, Kelly and Jon started a game of croquet and when Megan got back she had to get in on it. We gave her her own mallet and ball and she got to play in her jammies and bare feet.

Off to the Beach!

We decided on Sunday night that we were going to go to the beach on Monday. Josh was able to get the day off and go with us which was one of the best things for me! (Just love that guy!) When Megan woke up that morning I told her we were going to the beach and she said, "Fly a kite?" I'm not sure where she got the beach-kite connection but I said sure! We met Jon, Kelly and Stacy in McMinnville and all jumped in the truck and headed to Lincoln City. Megan got to sit next to Jon which was fantastic to her. We heard "Silly Jon!" all the way here. She's already said it about 5 times since I started this blog because she's sitting on my lap "helping". Aunt Kelly let Megan use her iPhone for entertainment. She has little games that Megan can play and now requests to play whenever Kelly is home.
We went to the outlet mall first and did some shopping, then went to Mo's for lunch and walked down to the beach from there.

Little beach girl!
When we first got there, she just ran and ran all over.
Josh got the kite up with minimal wind and Megan loved watching it and "helping".
Yes, the water was pretty cold but of course that didn't keep her out of it. We were on an inlet which was perfect because there wasn't a real big tide to worry about. I was mostly worried about her falling in the water and having to go in and get her! She also played in the sand and buried her feet.
We also got to see some seals in the water!

We had a really fun day and still had to make it back for a BBQ!

The Zoo with Aunt Stacy

Stacy is also in town for a couple of weeks, one more at this point. We went to the zoo with her last week. We were there a lot longer than I had planned but Megan was good for the most part. We missed our first attempt at the train and then missed the next by ONE group. Fortunately they started a new train and we only had to wait about 10 minutes or so to get started. They have the long train ride going now through Washington Park. Megan met a little friend named Nathan on the ride too.
The bear was walking right in front of the window. Megan turned around and said, "I scared."
Another twinsie picture.

We were telling Megan to keep her hands and arms in the train so she was trying to mind!

Nathan wanted to take a picture of Megan so she said cheese!

Grandma Schwartz' 92nd Birthday

Grandma Schwartz turned 92 years old at the end of May. The whole family got together at the beginning of June for a BBQ at a Gales Creek Campground. Hunter and Megan had a lot of fun riding their quads around and Hunter showed off his dare devilish riding which rubbed off a bit on Megan. They were riding down a hill on their quads and giggling. Unfortunately I didn't notice until I downloaded the pictures that most of them ended up with somethin on them because I guess the lens was dirty. So that's the white you see on most of the pictures!

Our little family. Megan has really warmed up to Grandma. She used to be pretty shy but not anymore and it's really cute!

Cheesers!
Dylan sitting like a big boy. Its getting hard to believe that he was born so early and so small.
Trying to be patient before getting to open her present.

Keep an eye on them right at the end of this clip. They both look at the cameras and grin!
