November 2011

Apparently I didn't take any pictures of Thanksgiving but I did get some of a few other events.  The Bowmen were in the football playoffs again this year and I was able to take the kids to one of their home games.  It was a little much for Joshua since all he wanted to do was run and the bleachers are not a very good playground.  We kept him occupied for awhile with popcorn but other than that, it was a bigger job than I would have liked.  Megan had fun hanging out with our friends' son who is a few years older than her.  She thought she was such a big girl because I let her walk around with him for a bit by herself.  They did win that game and went all of the way to State but ended up losing the championship game.  They did a great job though and I am always so proud of Greg and his success as a coach there.

The leaves, the leaves, the leaves. Our three huge trees are beautiful and shading in the summer but in the fall we curse them.  We could rake every leaf up one day and they will return the next day as if we had done nothing.  So as I rake I try to remember laying under those trees in the hammock and the energy/cost savings they provide because they save so much money in air conditioning.  Our house would absolutely roast without them.  I took Joshua out one day to rake and let him play in the leaves.  I'm not sure what it is about my kids but I cannot get them for the life of me to play, throw or jump in the leaves.  My friends always post pictures of their adorable children having all sorts of Fall fun. Not my kids. Not my kids.  I did get a couple of cute pictures of him but he was not thrilled when I put him in the pile of leaves as you will see.

Josh and I were able to go to the Civil War game again this year.  It was a lot of fun and we sat in Devin and Tami's extra two seats.  The game was great and afterwards we were able to have a bit of a date weekend.  We drove from Eugene to Florence and stayed the night.  Our plan was to drive up the coast back to pick up the kids from my parents' house.  Unfortunately the trip was a little shorter than planned because Joshua was super sick and needed his mommy!  It was a good night away though, we had a nice dinner and relaxing evening at the hotel.  Thanks for watching the kids mom!

Halloween 2011

We thought it only fitting for Joshua to be a Monkey for Halloween since he is our little "Monkey Boy".  And of course Megan as Rapunzel was a no brainer too.  Megan has gotten her Halloween costume for her birthday the last two years.  I know, I know, I'm awful but I might as well do it while I can still get away with it!  Megan got all sorts of rave reviews on her costume, especially because of her wig.  All of the little girls and moms pointed her out.  She was definitely the best dressed Rapunzel out there!  She had all of the details down to the matching candy bag!  Mister was such a big boy and you could tell he was having a blast walking house to house and carrying his own bucket.  He still needed help getting up steps to the doors but sissy was right there for him.  Every once in awhile he'd try to go into their house because he had no idea what they were giving him.  That is, until I broke out a sucker and then he was done walking and was busy with that.  They were both great all night and although I missed having Josh along with us, we had a great time.

This is one of two VERY decked out houses.  Megan had no interest in walking through the trail they had set up.  She was a little freaked out from the previous "haunted house".  She went straight for the candy!

Happy 5th Birthday Megan!

We have a tradition with Megan that we spend her actual birthday with her just as a family. Since Josh was in Boston, we again were lucky to have my family join us at John's Incredible Pizza for dinner and playtime.  She is definitely like her daddy and likes the spinning rides.  Papa got nominated for that duty this time because I would make a real mess of the ride.  She loved it though and gave it a thumbs up!  Joshua also got to ride a bit and we learned that night that he could definitely tell us what he was thinking.  If we pulled him off too soon, he would SCREAM! He's so cute.  We had a great time.  We even had a visit from the Bear at dinnertime to sing her Happy Birthday!

Baggenstos Farm 2011

We went to Baggenstos Farm for pumpkin patch season this last year.  I've always wanted to go for their famous fries and finally we made it.  Unfortunately Daddy wasn't able to join us because he was in Boston for work.  Luckily Grandma, Papa, Tami and Devin were able to come along for the fun.  Joshua had a lot of fun walking around the pumpkins and exploring everything new.  Megan enjoyed the pumpkin bowling and the hay ride to the pumpkin patch.  We had a great time and another opportunity to practice with the camera!
