Joshua is 6 Months Old Today

I just can't even believe that Joshua is 6 months old.  Babies have been born all around us since he was born and I forget how small he used to be and how big he is now.  He is getting to be so fun though, he has a little laugh, he smiles all of the time, he rolls all over the floor to get to where he wants to go.  He also loves the Exersaucer that we were lucky enough to borrow from friends.  He has had 2 teeth officially pop all of the way through the gums and therefore officially become a "biter".  He loves Megan so much, she can get him cracking up at all of her dancing and jumping around.  He is just a sweet, sweet baby and loves to cuddle his mama.  He is a major mama's boy which has gotten to be a little overwhelming at times when he won't have anything to do with anyone but me but I'm sure he'll out grow that faster than I know and then I'll be sad!  So I probably shouldn't complain.  You can also see his new little haircut better in these pictures.  Oh I love him!

Joshua's First Haircut

I never expected to say that my son would be getting his first haircut around 6 months.....but I could not stand the crazy, over the ears hair look any longer!  As you can tell from all of the previous pictures, it WAS getting pretty crazy.  I thought about it for a few days and was having a hard time deciding to actually do it, like I was turning him into a big boy just by cutting his hair.  I told myself to get over it and did it.  I started out cutting it with scissors and it was looking okay but dad wanted to get involved with the clippers.  I just didn't want him to have a buzzed look.  He definitely looks like a big boy now!

 His last mohawk!!
 Here comes daddy!
The finished product and yes, that's his crazy haired sister who had to be in the picture!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Megan made my very favorite, chocolate cake, for my birthday.  I also got a Dutch Bros gift card!!  That's all I need!

Go Ducks!

We all know how the game turned out but...it was a great first half, huh?  It was very exciting and lots of fun going out to Jay and Alia's to watch it with them.  I made some festive cookies to go along with the game!

Megan had a batch of her own to decorate as well.

These are the snowflake cookies I made for our Dutch Bros. staff.  They know us by name, don't judge me.

Little Baby Toes

Joshua is now grabbing his little toes and even trying to eat them.  (And when I say now, I mean starting about a month ago because I'm so behind on this thing.)
(There is an ill placed bumblebee on the loincloth....it's not something else.)

First Foods

At Joshua's 3 month check up, the doctor told us that we could probably start feeding him some veggies around 5 months.  So right about that 5 month mark, that's what he got, in hopes that it would fill his belly enough to get him to sleep better through the night.  So far, that hasn't been the case but he is loving the food.  He took it really well, never gagged or made funny faces.  He basically acted like we had been keeping something from him.  He chowed down on sweet potatoes the first day and then a few days later had some carrots.  Megan was so excited to help feed him too and she did a good job.

Christmas Dinner....at Our House Now

Our Christmas plan was to go to Josh's cousin's house. We were bringing the turkey, turkey fryer, stuffing and rolls.  Since they told us that we couldn't leave the house, our options were limited and we had to change plans quickly. Luckily everyone was okay with moving dinner to our house.  So after running around trying to get the house ready for guests, it was time for dinner!

Christmas Morning

Christmas morning was a whirlwind.  I think Joshua woke up first, we laid there for a bit and then got up ourselves.  We always get the family room ready for Megan's emergence from her bedroom.  We got the video camera set up on a tripod to record the activities and took pictures of what Santa left behind.  Lucky for Gracie, he didn't forget her or her bad breath....she got some treats all for herself. We have yet to see them having any impact on the breath however.
Here is the loot from Santa, Joshua's little pile on the left and Megan's on the right.
Joshua got lots of little teething toys, some block for when he's a bit bigger and some clothes.
Megan got lots and lots of everything including the little butterfly costume that looks adorable on her.  She likes to wear it because it looks like a ballerina's tutu.  So she does her dancing on her tiptoes thing and you can see her huge calf muscles bulging out!  She got lots of Cinderella stuff and even a Prince Charming which she was so disapointed she didn't get.  She had one last present to open and while she was opening it, she told us that Santa had forgotten.  Low and behold, she found her Prince Charming.
The candy cane trail from the kids' bedroom to their presents.
 Oh my goodness, the aftermath.
We also had some extra excitment for the day.  We were busy getting ready to head over to Josh's cousin's house for his family's celebration when Josh smelled smoke in the garage.  After searching around, not find anything, he felt the fireplace brick that backs up to the garage and it was pretty hot.  We weren't sure if that was normal so I called the non emergency fire number and I was surprised when someone actually answered.  He said he didn't think it was normal and they would send an engine out.  About 5-10 minutes later, a fire engine pulled up in front of our house.  We had firefighters on the roof, in the attic, in the family room and in the garage.  They decided we probably had a small chimney fire going.  The extinguished the fire but told us we probably shouldn't leave the house like we were planning.  This is a picture that Megan took on her brand new camera from Papa and Grandma T.

Christmas Eve

Megan was very excited to put her cookies out for Santa.  She made some at Aunt Mimi's house so we just used them.  And she think she has to pose for every picture now.

I'm not sure about this pose except to say that I think it began with the Christmas program and somehow says to her "Angel pose".  So...okay.
