Megan's First Haircut

I've been talking to Megan about getting her haircut for some time now and always with the same outcome.....her freaking out.  So I just haven't fought it.  Well, after gymnastics today I decided it was time.  I made an appointment with my friend Tracy and brought her in.  She did a great job.  Of course she thought it was going to hurt but after the first cut she realized it wouldn't.  We didn't take much off at all.  I just wanted it to be healthier looking and have more of a straight edge at the bottom.  And it does look much better!  She sat really still and moved her head when Tracy needed her to.  When she was all done she got a tootsie pop and a balloon!  And mom got to keep a little lock of her hair!

All done!  She did a great job.  You wouldn't really notice we did anything but I can!

Serious Catching Up to Do!

I am way behind in my posting.  I've skipped ahead and forgotten to post some stuff.  I think I get caught up in Facebook and don't realize all of the time that some people aren't on there to see what I'm posting.  Anyway, this should catch everyone up to the present.

Megan started school in the middle of February.  I started my Esthetics business at a new salon at that time and needed to find somewhere for Megan to be.  My mom helped me out in my first 3 months in business so it was time to give her her time back too!  Megan was very excited about her first day and thank goodness didn't cry....until the second day.  When we got there she went right in and started playing.  It was great for me because I would have lost it if she had started crying and had to be pulled away from me.  Instead I made back into my car before I lost it.  Since then, she has better days than others but overall is having a good time and is meeting new little friends.
Megan spent the night with Aunt Mimi in February and took a special trip to the Children's Museum and got to see Clifford the Big Red Dog which she still talks about!
A blustery day in the backyard trying to get some yardwork done.  Megan doing her share to keep our pampered Sampson dry.  Pathetic.
So everyone knows now that we are having a baby boy.  When we found out we were pregnant we decided that we should switch bedrooms with the kids.  Ours was a little bigger and would accomodate two kids better than Megan's current room.  So the weekend after we found out the news we got busy.  Probably not the best planning because having Megan around was a little hectic and hard on her because there really wasn't anywhere for her to take naps, etc.  But we made it through.  This is a picture of Megan's room before the new mom and dad paint.
Megan was so excited to help paint and had a lot of fun.
This picture was probably taken at at least 9p.m.....
After FOUR trips to the store, one to Fred Meyer and three to Home Depot, we finally got the paint colors right and on the walls!  Oh I was so annoyed.  But it looked great when it was all done!
I still have as of yet to take a picture with our furniture/decor in the room.  And I totally spaced taking a before picture of our old bedroom.  But I'll post a final kids room picture when it's all done.

Last Saturday we took advantage of a local Easter Egg Hunt in Sherwood.  It was a beautiful day and perfect for the hunt.  Megan was really excited of course!
Megan was "scared" at first when she saw the Easter Bunny but then she saw the bucket of lollipops.  Enough said.
Waiting for the hunt to begin.
The hunt was over before we knew it but Megan got her fair share.  We told her just to run as fast as she could and then start picking up candy.  Well apparently that's what all the parents told the kids because Megan chose to do it her way and picked up the candy they were all passing up.  If she found an empty egg she held it up to me confused and tossed it back on the grass.

Latest Ideas....

Now that we know it's a boy - the serious shopping has begun.  This is what I like now!

We're Having a Baby Boy!

We had our ultrasound yesterday and found out that we are having a baby boy!  We are very excited, I think both of us expected a girl and would have been fine with that but now we have one of each and have the perfect little family!  I've already done some shopping - there just happens to be a baby sale at Fred Meyer right now - go figure!  And oh my gosh, all of the baseball stuff I couldn't get for Megan - I CAN or WILL GET!

The start of a brand new wardrobe!
We went to the mall yesterday to get Megan's picture taken with the Easter Bunny (that post later) and got a chance to meet up with Baby Bria (and her mommy and daddy).  It was Megan's first time seeing her and she was so precious with her.  She cradled her in her arms (supported by me of course) and bounced her just like a little mommy.  She gave her kisses - luckily she happens to be healthy at the moment - and rubbed her arms and played with her little tiny fingers.  She is going to be such a good big sister and a very big helper to mommy.

I don't know if it's the same for everyone but I think the baby becomes more real when I know what the gender is - it gives me something to imagine and plan for.  I know a lot of people say that when you find out early, the surprise is gone.  I don't think so, we were still just as surprised yesterday as we would have been at his birth.  And it didn't mean any less to us.  And of course we still have the surprise of his arrival and when that may happen.  Until then, we are anticipating......

Lesly is Free

I just wanted to let whoever is listening know that Lesly passed away tonight around 8:30 p.m.  I guess it was last night at this point.  She was at home with her mom and dad and in her own bed.  She knew what was happening and they were able to calm her and let her go in peace.  No one should ever have to go through what her parents went through tonight or for the last 5 years of her life.  They are strong and they will make it through this though, in their own time.  Now the healing can begin.
