Corn on the Cob - So Big!

For the past few weeks Megan has been a very picky eater and if she does eat, it hasn't been very much. We've noticed her appetite rebounding in the last couple of days though. Tonight she ate enough dinner for two babies! She had about 1/2 a chicken breast, LOTS of peas, a few shrimp and some bites of her first big girl corn on the cob.

Lesly is 8!

Megan was invited to Lesly's 8th Birthday party at a local horse barn. She got to hang out with the big girls! The owners of the stables talked to the girls a little bit about horses, the body parts, where not to stand and parts of the saddle. This is Megan looking at the horse in the barn that they were using to show the girls. Then each of them got to take rides on 3 full size horses. After that, they brought out their miniature horse and Megan was able to ride her. It was the cutest thing ever!! She loved it! The minute Josh put her on the horse, she was all smiles. The lady said that she's the youngest they've had on the horse without them freaking out. She's a natural!

Here's Megan waiting for her ride on the horse. All ready with her helmet and boots!
She just looks like such a big girl!
Got icing?

Anything to keep cool!

Thank goodness the sun is finally here! Last week I took Megan to Wilsonville to play in their water features. She really loved it and I would suggest everyone try it out with their little ones!

Daddy Time

Megan has been a real mommy's girl lately and of course Josh really doesn't like it. He was home sick for a couple of days last week. For the most part I tried to let him just rest but I was able to catch these cute pictures of Daddy reading a story to Megan.

Billie, Jaxon and Gabriel Visit

Last week Billie, Jaxon and Gabriel took a drive out to Cornelius to visit us! Of course Megan loved baby Gabriel and saved some love for Jaxon too. She will be a great big sister! (Someday - relax!!)

Happy 20 Month Birthday Megan!

I cannot believe that Megan will be 2 years old in only 4 months. Where does the time go?
(Please ignore the runny nose. She's been teething her incisors for a month now!)
Also, along with Aunt Stacy - Aunt Kelly is now in Italy. She will be keeping us posted via her blog. The link to her page is to your right.

The Wheels on the Bus

We've been really trying to drive as little as possible lately with gas prices, not to mention the environment. Josh decided that since we didn't have any plans today that he would take the Corolla to work (which means driving it to his carpool meeting point and leaving it there for the day). It's about 13 miles round trip but in the truck, that adds up to at least $4.00 a day just for that small distance. Anyway, he took the car. After he left I had the bright idea to take Megan swimming. We've been talking about taking her on the bus or on Max because of her interest in "choo choos", planes, and loves the song "The Wheels on the Bus". So I thought, the pool isn't too far, a perfect chance to practice the bus. We got packed up and walked to the bus stop down the street and waited for the bus. When it came, Megan was very intrigued. Then we got on and she was able to sit in her very own seat and look at all of the new people. So as I had been doing while we waited, I sang the "Wheels on the Bus" softly in her ear. She started to smile and roll her hands "round and round". Every once in awhile she would think about it and roll her hands at me and ask for more when the bus stopped. She was a really good girl and was a big girl on the bus!!
Here she is getting comfy in her seat.
Megan's suprise at the bus starting to move.
Waiting for the bus to go home.

Our New Car

We've been talking about it for awhile and finally found something we really had to go look at. We found a 2004 Toyota Corolla LE with only 17,000 miles on it. It has leather seats, power everything, automatic transmission and a sunroof. The mileage alone really caught our eye. After a bit of haggling, we got them down to the price we were willing to pay before we ever even saw it. I think they'd tell you that they didn't make any money on it. Yeah for us. So now we have a car that will get about 200 miles more per tank than we used to. It's just a bit smaller so we're all a little more cozy but it's worth it!

Official Father's Day Celebration

We got together tonight for Father's Day at my parent's house. I had to get some pictures of how cute Megan was in the dress that Grandma and Grandpa Darling got her on their honeymoon in Hawaii. She looks like she would fit right in on the beach. And don't miss those pink jelly sandals! After dinner, we had strawberry shortcake for dessert. Megan has a definite sweet tooth - as you can tell from the previous post as well as all of the others I've posted. Megan saw the can of whipped cream and started begging please. You see, her Daddy sometimes will treat himself to a bit of whipped cream on his coffee. At some point, the can somehow got pointed into Megan's mouth and introduced her to the sweet, sweet world of aeresole whipped cream. I'm not sure how long ago that last happened but I'm telling you - this girl has the memory of an elephant. (They have really good memories, right?) Anyway, the minute the can was in sight, she knew it belonged in her mouth. So, mommy gave her a few squirts. I fixed plates for everyone and intended to share our strawberry shortcake with her. SHE WANTED NOTHING TO DO WITH STRAWBERRIES OR SHORTCAKE! So, I got the bright idea to make a little bowl of just whipped cream for our sweet baby Megan. She went to town. What a booger. But that didn't keep her from begging off of Kelly 20 minutes later.

Here's Megan laughing at Grandma. She has a good way of getting her to smile at the camera.

Chocolate Cake

While I was working on Father's Day, Josh went to Danny and Michael's graduation party out at the farm. The story I got was that she had PLENTY of cake while they were out there. And then I found these pictures on the camera. "I thought you said she had plenty at the party?" I asked Josh. He said there was a story. Apparently the cake made it's way home on the center console of Josh's truck - directly in eyesight of the little girl in the backseat. All the way home from Gales Creek Josh heard, "Ease, ease, ease, ease, ease?" pointing emphatically. Although she is very polite in asking please, Josh thought she'd had enough. He got Megan out of the truck, grabbed the cake and took them both inside. Well, there was the cake right in front of Megan's little eyes again. He put her down in the house and she started the, "Ease, ease, ease, ease, ease?" He said, "No Megan you've had enough." Then the polite little girl went into meltdown mode, more than Daddy could handle evidently.

Forgotten Pictures

I can't remember when I took these pictures but I had to post them. She loves to be outside playing. She knows if we put boots on, it's time to go to the backyard.

Father's Day

Unfortunately 2008 hasn't proved to very cooperative in the Mother's Day/Father's Day arena. Josh was in Arkansas for Mother's Day and for Father's Day, Josh and Megan went to a graduation party while I went to work. I really hope for a day where my job allows me to spend holidays with my family, especially ones where I'm able to make my husband feel special on "his" day.

He is such a wonderful Daddy. I have never seen him love on anyone as much as Megan. He does a pretty good job with me too but his little baby girl is wrapped around his finger. If she has a tummy ache, he's online trying to find a fix. If she has a fever, he calls home for updates. If she doesn't have a specific dress for Christmas (how did that ever happen?), he picks one out for her without even being asked. And of course he's already started the toy assembly line on Christmas Eve - She LOVES her quad. She loves to ride Daddy's quad around the backyard with him too. While mommy works, he takes her for bike rides around the neighborhood in her bike trailer. And even when she's being a bit of a turkey, he will go to the store and get her a sprinkler to play in on a sunny day!

We are so lucky to have him in our lives. We love you Daddy!

Fun in the Sun

It's ONLY June and we finally have a sunny beautiful day. Hopefully this weather will stick around! After Megan's morning nap we went to the Hillsboro Farmers Market. We bought some really sweet strawberries that I don't think will be around long enough to get into jam. Megan also had her first experience in the fountain. I thought she would just splash her feet and watch the other kids. But it's the other kids you have to watch out for!! Megan got soaked! She loved it though so we thought it was time to buy her a sprinkler for the yard. Off to Freddies we went and this is how it turned out!

Dylan Jeffrey Schwartz

Well, he decided to make his entrance into the world a little early - 10 weeks to be exact! Dylan Jeffrey Schwartz was born to Jeff and Bobbi Jo Schwartz on June 1, 2008. He's doing really well all things considered, breathing on his own and only needing some extra warmth. He's eating well (tube fed) and will surely start growing fast. He was 4 lbs. 1 oz and 16 inches long at birth.
Congratulations Jeff, Bobbi Jo and big brother Hunter!
