Megan's First Soccer Game

Megan has started soccer again and the best thing about it is that she loves it and we also love it.  We had her on a team last year but the age gap of the players was too large and it just wasn't a good experience for her.  This year she is on a team with 4-6 year olds and it is perfect.  Her coach is very good with the kids and has way more patience than I have! During the games, they split the kids in half so that more aggressive kids are playing equally agressive kids on the other team.  It's a great way to do it, especially after what we saw on the last team.  It really does help to create a successful experience for all of the kids.  Megan has done really well and her comfort with the ball already is a trait I definitely did not give her.  Soccer was for sure not my sport.  You can tell what a great time she is having by looking at her face, she is constantly smiling even when running hard after the ball.  I'm so proud of her and her athleticism.  I know I'm biased but she is AMAZING!

And this little guy has to be the proudest little brother!

Megan's First Day of Kindergarten

Megan started school last Wednesday.  She was nervous and excited all at the same time.  I wasn't sure how I was going to do but had already been given the green light to cry from Megan.  She equates me crying to me being proud of her.  So I guess that works for me!  Her school requires uniforms which I wasn't too sure of at first.  She definitely likes to make her own style but so far this has been good.  She has a section of her closet that she knows she can pick from and she mixes and matches.  She gets to make all of the decisions since everything goes together and I don't have to say no!  Win-Win!  She LOVES that she can wear knee high socks too!  Her selection is pretty small still and we'll have to get her some warmer winter options but it all seems to be going very well so far. Hopefully she doesn't get sick of it.
Daddy came with us on the first day, he wouldn't have missed it.
Big girl all ready for school!

This is Megan's desk with 4 other kids.  She said lots of goodbyes to us that day but didn't cry at all.  I however, lost it in the hall once we left.  She didn't see it though!  Joshua was a little concered with why we were leaving her and kept asking about her throughout the day.  Both of them were thrilled when we picked her up too!  They kissed and hugged eachother like they hadn't seen eachother in years!
She has done well at school, I hear more and more throughout the night of what they did in class.  She really loves that her teacher sings with them and that made me very happy.  The 2nd morning, we had some tears which I expected.  First day excitement was gone, only nervousness was left.  Every morning since has gone fine, lots of hugs and kisses goodbye, lots of reassurance that I would be picking her up at 3:00.  Sometimes I wish I could be a fly on the wall to see how it's going but I knew this day would come.  She is growing up so fast.  Before I know it she will be going to middle school.  Ouch!

Joshua's 2nd Birthday John Deere Style

Joshua turned 2 on August 3!  He such a boy and loves all things car, truck, tractor, train, and airplane!  We thought we'd go with that and have a John Deere party. Of course he had to look the part so he had his best farmer gear on and looked super cute!  We had a lot of friends and family come out for the party and we are so grateful. We rented the covered patio area of a local park and pretty much had the whole playground to ourselves for all of the kids to play.  It couldn't have been better weather either!

Joshua came fashionably late after we had already set up so Sissy is taking him around showing him all of the decorations.
Every party I have to decide whether I'm going to make the cake/cupcakes or have someone else do it.  This year, it was just much easier to have Fred Meyer do it and they did a great job!

Joshua spies a car on one of his presents!
Snacks for the party, the rye bread cucumber sandwiches that Danielle makes were a hit!  I'm glad I stole the recipe!
The best part of this party was that it was not at our house! No major clean before and no major clean UP after!  The kids loved just being at the park and being able to run around.
A kissy for mommy.  Joshua thinks it's really funny to tease his daddy about giving me kisses.  If Josh tries to give me a kiss, he'll try to interrupt and give me a kiss himself.  Either way, I WIN!  You can see him looking at Josh (taking the picture) out of the corner of his eye waiting to see if he can get a reaction.  It's my favorite game lately!
 Cutie birthday boy!
 Time to open presents!
He loved his tractor shirt!  And he'll love it for an entire extra year becuase it's a 3T!
 CAT Tractor!  Score!
A dump truck so big and he sit and ride on it!
 Thank you everybody!!
 Some of our many guests.
Grandma combined all of her old keys on a keychain and he LOVED it!  He is all about keys, getting keys, holding keys, jingling keys.  Now he has his own set that we don't have to worry about him losing!
 Happy Birthday Boy!

More of our guests.  The party was a hit!

This was by far one of his favorite gifts, a bubble "leaf" blower from Aunt Stacy.

Thank you to everyone who came out for the party.  It was quite a drive for many of you and we appreciate how much you love our kids!!

Kelly's Wedding

Kelly's wedding was last Friday night and it turned out perfectly.  All of Kelly's hard work really paid off.  The venue was beautiful, the weather was gorgeous, if not a little on the warm side, dinner was yummy and they had quite a good looking bridal party!  The rehearsal was held the afternoon before followed by a dinner at Highcliffe in Oregon City. Everything was just great!  They are now decompressing in Hawaii for ten days!  Instead of uploading all of the pictures I took again, I'll just show you to their Photobucket site.

More Pictures from July

We were invited to go to the zoo with Megan's preschool class.  She finished in June and hadn't seen her friends or teacher since then so she was very excited to meet up with them.

Megan was also in her very first Triathlon all by herself.  She was looking the part and couldn't wait to get started.  It goes Bike, Swim and then Run.

Little triathlon girl with her numbers on her legs just like the adults get.  The race number goes on the left leg and the age goes on the right.
 All ready for her swim.

Running out of the lake to go to the transition area to get ready for her bike ride.
Off she went on her bike ride.  Time passed and we started expecting her to be back and then suddenly we saw her with one of the volunteers crying and walking her bike.  She had fallen and took quite the spil.  She had a bleeding fat lip, scrape on her elbow and bump on her eyebrow.  I'm not sure what happened but it was good fall.  At that point, her attitude definitely took a turn for the worse.  It was all we could do to have her finish the race and go for her run.
But she finally did and I ran along side of her.
And eventually she finished.  It wasn't the happy finish that we looked forward to but she finished and that was the most important part.  Oh, and that she looked cute doing it!  :)
